FP4 icon locations reset on every e os update

Utterly infuriatingly, every time the OS updates itself my icons rearrange themselves alphabetically and the ones I’ve hidden in boxes as I don’t use them often are placed back on the main screen, creating a lot of clutter and confusion. This includes the four icons in the quick bar at the bottom which are reset to ones I don’t use.

I don’t know whether this issue is particular to the FP4 or every e os device, but I would love to hear of a solution. Or just sympathy from other “victims”. :upside_down_face:

it’s a long running issue, probably different paths to trigger the reset, but not all fixed - https://gitlab.e.foundation/e/backlog/-/issues/6042

A rewrite of the launcher will be released soon that will very likely not repeat that behaviour.
