FP4: Unified Push only works when phone is on and app (Element, Fluffy) is open

With our FP4 (2 x), Unified Push only works when the phone is on and the respective app is open. I can’t say for sure since when this has been the case, but it worked with 2.5 (no longer with 2.8a14 and 2.9a14).

UP-Example reports everything is fine
Element reports all good
Fluffy reports all good

Maybe someone can help or confirm the error.

I use Molly-FOSS and UP with Pixel 5 since a week.

Before on the Pixel 4a I would have also ‘delays’ not sure what the reason was since Background was allowed and I didn’t close the app.
I realized swipping back too many times would close the app.

Since UP was introduced for eOS in system settings it does not work on S7, I need to use ntfy-app to make it work ever since…
No delays for molly-foss though.

I don’t have to use the app, I can use the system settings.

Thanks for the tip. I installed the app and played around a bit, but unfortunately it didn’t work. I have opened a ticket…

Thanks, but I didn’t really understand how you do it.

I suppose you have activated UP undery Settings → System.

sure (klar, hab ich  )

Well, for @obacht that way doesn’t work at all. So he installed nyfty app (which is the same as the system setting)

I hope this clears it up.

Yes, that is true.

For general test of function install UP Example App, register and send a test notification.
If you receive the notification you know UP delivery works.
… be it via system integrated UP or via extra install of ntfy.

Be aware that you need to choose a “ntfy” when you register in UP Example:

  • the upper ntfy is the system integrated “ntfy
  • the lower ntfy is the extra install,

Not sure about how other apps do their UP-thing or how eOS does it in the background … but with Molly UP via ntfy I had to also connect to a mollysocket service, I use adminforge:

Unfortunately, this does not work on our FP4 phones. The message does not appear until element has been opened and the display is on.
I just tried it again with and without the sepaerate app.

You what about ‘running in the background’?

I guess you checked it, just making sure

Yes, I mean to have checked all the settings. It’s probably just a little thing, but it doesn’t run on my wife’s FP4 (which I don’t touch) nor mine.
