FP5 Murena , U14?

Hello everyone, I am quite lost with regard to the various information published on the forum.

I have had a Murena Fairphone 5 for a few months under Android 13, no problem with that.

I thought that the latest E/OS version would make me go through Android 14 but I see that it is still a version 13.

I see several messages with different information so I am very lost.

There is indeed version 14 which is in preparation on the Murena side to subsequently obtain the update which will carry out the upgrade?

Because if I am told that this is only possible manually by having to format the smartphone, I admit that this is very likely to annoy me knowing that I voluntarily took the device from Murena a short time ago to avoid doing X manipulation.

Do you have any information on this subject?

If you don’t want to install such an upgrade to a new underlying Android version manually, you will need a so-called “OTA upgrade”, which gets delivered via the updater (over the air) and doesn’t require a manual install.

OTA upgrades need to get specially prepared and tested by the developers for a single device and a single upgrade step. This takes time and development resources, so the team concentrates on preparing them for devices Murena sell or sold themselves.

You can follow proceedings by checking the weekly posts in Topics tagged development-updates, respectively section “OS OTA Related information”.
You will have to wait until an OTA upgrade for the Fairphone 5 to Android 14 (U) pops up there under “Completed” (or until your updater offers the upgrade to you, which should coincide somewhat).

Thanks for your answer.

If I understand correctly, even if the upgrade takes time.

At some point they will release an update directly on the device that will allow you to upgrade to android 14?

So two choices are made: either do it manually, or wait?

Thanks

That is correct. I recommend to wait.
