FP5 OTA problem 2.1 -> 2.2. -> 2.3

FP5 Murena e/OS 2.1-t-20240603 not rooted

Hi,
I’m stuck at the updater app.
After notification that the new stable version 2.2 is available I downloaded it in the updater app.
Just at finishing the download there was a short toast message “checksum error” or similar
so I decided not to click the install button.
Here we go, the actual screen:

I tried to clear the cache as described here in the forum.
I thought If the new version 2.3 is available the problem is gone - it stucks here like before.

Should I manually download from the official link the 2.3. stable version and do a local update in the updater app?
Any hints?

Thanks for helping,
Regards
Fritz

Checksum error means that the updater has not been able to check the integrity of the file. It may be okay, but there’s a chance for it to be corrupted. I don’t know the source of this problem. What i can recommend you is to update it by yourself using either TWRP or ADB. However you will have to get your hands dirty… OTA is supposed to help people with update, so better find the source of this problem…

I’m a normal user, little experience with ADB (installed on the laptop) because using Macrodroid and Automate for little programming, no idea about TWRP (ok, RTFM could help or search engine

Would be nice if the programmers would help in this case to let the user just delete the downloaded file…
This was not the 1st OTA update, before everything went fine.

Any link to info for the manual update?
In the update app there is the hamburger menu (…) with “local update” (“lokales Update”), is this a good way to use after downloading the stable version for the FP5?

Thanks for jumping in :+1:

If you need to redownload the update, try rebooting your phone. In order to avoid filling the storage with unused updates, the file is deleted once the update is done. Maybe rebooting your phone while reset it, but i’m not sure. If you need to install it via ADB, i can give you documentation and explain you but it’s not intuitive. Easier with a custom recovery like TWRP (->see the how-to). But firstly try to reboot your phone and see whether or not the update has been deleted.
Greetings !!

Edit: you possess a FP5 be aware of this issue (normally patch) before installing ! IT MIGHT HAPPEN !

Please read carefully this thread. The problem is normally patched.

ok, I see that there is not a simple solution for a user like me.
I bought the FP5 from Murena because I didn’t like to flash or do something
what bricks the phone.

I try to contact Murena support and wait for their answer.

Anyway thanks for your help,
Regards,
Fritz

do you want upgrade from 2.2 ?

Now it works on FP5
getting e-2.3-t-20240820426372-stable-FP5.zip

…the Update is fine…

I’m on 2.1 now and can’t get 2.3 because it is not shown in the updater list, after downloading
2.2 there was an error toast I described in the intial post…

You told me you cleared the cache. Have you tried to clear the storage ? Look in the app section how much storage does the updater app takes. If it’s something huger than 500mo (normally more or less 1go) then try to clear the storage. I guess you have already done that but better remind it…

ok, I was not precise enough, I cleared the storage…

Anyway I’m curious to find out in the updater app at the three … menu there is a
“Lokales Update” (“local update”) item. If I download the 2.2-t stable from the official link
and do the local update will this be a good solution? Or use the 2.3-t?
At the moment I am on 2.1-t…

Thanks again,
Fritz

first → 2.2 then 2.3 is a good solution…

Weird, i don’t have this option on my phone (herolte)… I guess that if you have it you should use it. It’s easier than an adb or recovery update. I didn’t tell you about it as i just didn’t know it existed.

Thanks for your input (Danke!)
I’m waiting for the Murena support what they say and then I’ll decide how to go on,

Fritz

So, support was helpful but the main message I got here in the forum too:
to delete the storage & cache in the updater app (what I did)
BUT then to go on to click the “install update” (“Aktualisierung installieren”) button
so the download starts again! and then it installs - what it is doing now.
At the moment it is finishing installing pakets. If there are any problems I inform you accordingly…

Edit: I’m now on 2.3-t-20240820426372-stable-FP5 without any further problems :innocent:
