I have Ubuntu Touch 24.04-1 installed on my Fairphone 5.
Since I am not happy with it I would like to switch to e/OS.
For this end I would like to check the Android Security Patch Level of the phone.
How do I do this?
i think the “official way” is to first reinstall FairphoneOS (FP5.VT2F.C.065 the version with 2025.10.05 SPL)
How to manually install Android on your Fairphone
.
Then install /e/OS (e-3.3-a15 the version with 2025.12.01 SPL)
also you can choose the “quick & dirty way”
and directly use adb sideload the e-3.3-a15 OTA file from the PC, through the custom recovery.
I assume that you never relocked the Bootloader after install Ubuntu Touch?
The anti-rollback hazard only comes from locked bootloaders.
So the Android SPL which I guess you most want to know about is that SPL when the phone was last locked (by implication at the time it was last unlocked).
Do you mean the security patch level at the time when I installed Ubuntu Touch?
To install Ubuntu I unlocked the boot loader and never locked again.
(You must not lock it as this will brick the phone)
Can the security patch level when Ubuntu Toch on Halium 11 is installed?
So within the device (and hidden from users) that Android SPL is recorded.
I am uncertain what you meant by the final sentence.
To install Ubuntu, I downgraded first the phone to Android 13 with security patch level from 05 June 2024.
After having installed Ubuntu Touch, I assume that the the underlying Android does not change anymore. Only Ubuntu Touch is updated.
That is what I mean by my last senctence.
Even if Ubuntu did import patches and you were using these patches it does not matter.
The (final) Android SPL in locked state is all that counts.
I managed to install e/OS ![]()
Thanks for your help.
