I am trying to install Taler Wallet with App Lounge. When I choose the Google-hosted version, all works fine. With F-Droid there was a download, then it seemed to fail without an error message, and the button changed to “Retry”. Retrying several times, even over days, didn’t help.
Actually both sources should offer the same apk, so it is strange why one of them fails. I managed to install other apps from F-Droid, so it’s not a general problem with that source.
Obviously I can use the Google version, but since that same issue happened before with OsmAnd as well, I am interested to find out about the root cause.
Looking at logcat will likely tell why it’s failing in that very moment.
I can’t reproduce with a FP3 atm (Fennec or Taler). In AppL there’s still the cleanapk api in the loop and can be a source of issues iirc.
Last I checked (but I too scratched my head) F-Droid packages take precedence over gplay on appid match. If they’re the same package on both gplay and fdroid depends on the build config (example).
