Funny behaviour for the OTA notifications

I have noticed something very weird happening, the last 3 consecutive /e/OS OTA updates (the update to 2.9, the update to 3.0.1, and the update to 3.0.4) - I get two identical “new updates” notifications. The first time they were 1 day apart, but last time and this time, both appeared at the same time.

One of these notifications is linked to my settings-> Updater menu. If I click on the other one, it shows the same updater page, but if I complete the download and then exit that page before initiating the install, when i go back to my settings->updater page, it shows I have a new update which I haven’t downloaded yet (I have no idea where the other download is going).

The actual OTA process works as expected, if I download the update from my settings-> updater menu.

Too bad I cannot attach pictures to this thread, as I took a screenshot.

Has anybody encountered anything similar?

On the basis that the Updater seems to quite often need Clear storage when it does not work properly in delivering an update, perhaps try

Settings > Apps and notifications > See all … apps > 3 dot menu top right > Show system > Updater > Storage & cache > Clear storage

I only had 16MB in storage and just a few KB in cache.

As soon as I cleared the cache, one of the notifications disappeared and my settings->updater needed a new “check for updates” to re-detect that there was an update available.

So the other notification is linked to some sort of bogus/ghost Updater app instance…

… or is it possible the other notification is linked to the Updater app inside my work profile? this is one thing I haven’t checked…

(you should be able to attach images to posts?)

you didn’t enable the test ota server in dev mode?

all I can see for the beyond2lte regular ota api answer (or most devices in dev / community) is the top entry having a epoch timestamp in “incremental” where you’d find a build string (think “eng.root.20250608.214822”). I speculate it finds 2 possible updates (one being A15), hides 1. There is an option in the updater preferences menu to “show all available updates”, maybe you see it then?

The second notification seems to be linked to the “updater” app from the work profile. Once I cleared the storage and cache on the work profile app, the second notification disappeared too.

Would be interesting to try and see what happens if i try to install an OTA update from inside the work profile
