Galaxy S10e, VoLTE support

Hello,

Can anybody tell me if the Galaxy S10e does support VoLTE or doesn’t.
I’m somewhat confused, I did read in several places . Samsung does not support VoLTE in custom roms, I don’t see any settings to enable/disable VoLTE or VoWIFI.

But when i dial ##4636##, I come into a somewhat secret setting menu and there I see ,IMSI code is there, I see Voice Network Type : LTE.

There it looks like, VoLTE is supported.
Does Anybody Knows ?

So still no support in e\os\ ?

In my experience, entirely with Sony devices, these settings don’t appear unless I’ve inserted a SIM card from a network for which the device is certified to use VoLTE. Removing the SIM, or inserting a different SIM from a network for which the device is not certified, causes the settings to disappear again.

Of course, this doesn’t mean much in the case of Samsungs with a custom ROM installed. Even if the settings appeared, they would not do anything, due to the loss of Samsung’s proprietary IMS stack. (That’s the current situation, at least, as far as I know.)

Thank You, I was hoping maybe the last year there was a solution for this.
I did read some posts here an there that maybe LOS is looking for an solution for this.

I tried with sims that do work with VoLTE an VoWifi on my Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G, and indeed there do these settings appear when you insert sim and disappear when sim is removed.
But not in Galaxy S10e.

I wish I had known this before then I never had bought the S10e, little luck, here in Holland, Vodafone keeps 2G op till the end of 2026, so some time left.

Do you know if the Sony XZ2 compact supports VoLTE?
Maybe a replacement for my S10e.

Whether any phone has the capability to use VoLTE depends on whether the manufacturer has obtained certification for it with a specific mobile provider or providers. In other words, the device may have VoLTE with a certain carrier, but not with another.

Examples:
Sony XZ1 Compact (released 2017) is certified for VoLTE with T-mobile USA, but not with AT&T or Verizon.

Sony XZ1 (non-compact version, also released 2017) is not certified for VoLTE with any U.S. mobile provider.

So I think you’ll need to ask the mobile provider you intend to use, and specifically which model number is supported. (There are three different ones. And by the way, I would avoid the Japan-market model: SO-05K. I’m not sure if their bootloader can be unlocked, or if a custom ROM can be installed.)

EDIT: This may be helpful when choosing the model number that matches the most LTE frequency bands used by VodafoneNL, but understand that it may not take the VoLTE requirement into account.

It appears it gets better LTE coverage on other networks.

More about VoLTE.

Thank you for al this advise and links, very helpful.

Now only find the site with all the VoLTE devices.
KPN and Vodafone are the 2 carriers with the best coverage in Holland…

I think they both have almost all devices, EU / Global, certified they have to now they make it mandatory to use VoLTE after shutting down 3G and shutting down 2G in the near future.
I don’t believe they will only support a small list.

It’s to bad that the lovely little Galaxy S7 will be obsolete for e/os/ in the future when 2G will be shut down
The S7 is supported for VoLTE by dutch KPN and dutch Vodafone.

So shame on Samsung.

Does VoLTE have to do with roaming?

Have a problem with roaming with a smartphone installed with Lineage os.

I think you’ll like the Sony. It has great specs, easily fits in your pocket, is super easy to unlock, and super easy to flash, thanks to the fact that Sony is so development friendly with their Open Devices program.

Agree , only one disadvantage, only 1 frequency GPS receiver, in Europe dual frequency GPS does work much better, with better Galileo support.
Sony was a little behind with that, Experia 1 III and 5 III doe have this.

But yes I’m going to search for one XZ2 compact

Hi, Yes I found one Sony XZ2 Compact, easy unlock and flashing custom rom.
Nice compact, a little chubby, but very nice pocket size.
Running e\os\ -T now, everything works fine, GPS is fast very nice, VoLTE is working with most providers.
One thing, I can’t find a working GCAM, only a very old one, 5.1, with no advantages from stock Camera.
But very nice for daily use.
