Getting ProtonMail apps on a Murena phone

Want to buy. A question. Can I use F-Droid apps on Murena? OR, does Murena store have Fennek, and ProtonMail/VPN apps? If yes, I’m going to buy. If no, is there a workaround here? Must have Proton apps - I’m tied into it.

Hi @IanS welcome to the /e/ forum.

Absolutely, F-Droid works fine on /e/OS, for many users it is a first thing to install.

As an example this is an image of a search for Fennec in App Lounge

A forum Search :mag: Proton mail may be informative, there are users here. Similarly you might search VPN as Advanced Privacy makes “slightly unusual” use of VPN slot.

Yes same here, I use Proton Mail, Calender, VPN and Pass. They are all fine

On my Murena FP5 the Proton Suite (Mail, Calendar, Drive & Docs, Pass, Wallet and VPN) builds the heart of the phone. eOS and Proton are an unbeatable team! You no longer need the fragile Murena Cloud! You can then uninstall all the superfluous Murena apps.

Many thanks to all for fast replies and help  This is good. I’ll be getting the FP5 as soon as poss. (Couple of other thoughts but I’ll start a new thread.)

To be short, the built-in AppLounge is an addition of F-droid + AuroraStore

You can also install the official F-Droid store app itself, or the F-Droid Classic app (which I prefer due to its simplicity), and enable various additional repos from within the app’s settings.

If you use the standalone F-Droid store, it may be best to update F-Droid apps only from the F-Droid store app, not the Murena store app.

Understood. Good thinking. This what I was trying to understand. I’m familiar with F-Droid and doing that, so I might take your advice. Thanks :+1:

I am using proton apps on my Murena also without any issues.
