Hi eOS Team,
Following my last experience with installing eOS on a brand new Google Pixel 8 (Shiba) and troubleshooting my issues with @piero (thanks once more for your kind help) , please find below my feedback to improve the installation guide.
Context : When I received my new phone it came with A14 so I installed the latest version of **A15 (**via the Google’s Web Installer), as specified in the installation guide for eOS on Google Pixel 8 (Shiba) below.
I wanted to install the OFFICIAL Version and after discussing with @piero I understood that I couldn’t install this version of eOS if I wasn’t on A14. Unfortunately this was not possible any more since I already updated to A15 and that Google implemented an anti-rollback.
The eInstaller did not work for me, I was blocked as my phone did not boot into RECOVERY MODE (see my post here).
I then tried to install via command line on a Win PC and I was a bit confuse as the documentation is not that clear to me.
Here are the points I would clarify :
1) As mentioned above, please clarify that the stock version of Android needed to install eOS has to be the same as the Android version of eOS you wish to install. In clear if eOS version is based on A14, your device need to be on stock A14.
2) Regarding the installation process point 4 : Run the installer script on Terminal(Linux) or on Git Bash UI(Windows).
I would replace this sentence :
“Make sure you are in the current directory which contains the flash_shiba_factory.sh file.”
by
“Make sure you are in the current directory which contains the image file folder(example : IMG-e-3.1.4-a15-20250915526766-community-shiba file.”
and then replace :
”Right click → Git Bash here”
by
”Right click on the image file folder → Open Git Bash here”
I hope this will help others, have a nice day ![]()
