Google Pixel Tablet and Signal app

I installed /e/OS on a Google Pixel Tablet today. Everything went fine with the install, however I discovered a problem with the Signal app. Signal seems to think that the Pixel Tablet is a phone and will not allow linking the device to a mobile phone. Signal has the policy of only allowing one phone per personal account. So, it prompts for user information as if the tablet were a phone and will not allow the scanning of a QR code, so that it can be added to the phone account as a “linked device”. Not sure if anyone is experiencing this on standard AndroidOS.

My devices are Fairphone 4 with /e/OS installed, and the Google Pixel Tablet with /e/OS installed.

I had the same problem with my standard android tablet . I looked in the FAQ and it seems not possible to use signal on 2 android devices for now.

Molly is the only “signal” that I know of that allows being linked to an existing install on an android as a “linked device” (works well!)… Not sure though if it works in conjunction with a “normal” signal install…or if the main device must have Molly installed as well.

Edit: should work according to compatibility statement:
