Please add your suggestions to improve the documentation for the Google - Pixel XL 2 - taimen here …
You should be mentioning the following:
-which bootloader version is verified
-which stock OS version is verified
-which TWRP version is verified
(without mentioning those flashing a custom ROM is russian roulette)
Gave it a try anyways and failed…
After some work i got my device back to stock ROM. /e/ is not booting at all.
About the installation guide:
Item 5 of Unlocking the bootloader - “Now type the following command to unlock the bootloader:
fastboot oem unlock” - the correct command for Pixel 2 XL is “fastboot flashing unlock”.
On Temporarily Booting a custom recovery using, at the end, is a bit confusing, it tell us to manually reboot the device, on the next step is written “with the device powered off” and than there’s an empty item/space. It does not say what to do with the device powered off. I did not do anything, i turned on, went back to the bootloader, and used fastboot, to boot TWRP ( Command: “fastboot boot twrpimagename.img” - twrpimagename being the name of the image). Once TWRP booted, i followed the final steps, and all went well.
Some simple changes suggestions for the guide, to be more clear to novice users.
