Home assistant issues, missing Google Play Services update
Hello, I’m trying to create new integrations on Home Assistant using the companion app on my e/os Fairphone 6, but get the error:
Home assistant won’t run unless you update Google Play Services.
What can I do? If I try to use my PC instead it tells me to use the companion app, which won’t work because of the Play Services issue. My phone software and all apps are up to date from what I can see.
I’m assuming other applications are impacted too, not just HA. How have other users resolved this? Do I need to install genuine play services rather than microG?
That’s the weird thing, it was working absolutely fine but I’ve decided to try integrating some Matter devices and it suddenly decides it isn’t happy anymore.
I’m charging up an old Google phone to see if I can get around it that way. Hopefully its just the Matter it has an issue with and I can continue to use the rest of it using my Murena phone. Its annoying that it has to go through the companion app anyway and won’t let me via a browser. I’ll update once I’ve tried the Google phone.
Depending on your needs you could try the F-Droid version of the Home Assistant companion app. There are some differences to the Play Services version but some of them can be worked around.
I’m also using /e/OS and Homeassistent Companian App and have no problems at all. I’m also using Matter devices (Matter over Threads).
My First approach to your problem would bei, what version of /e/OS are you running? Is this the latest available version for your device?
