Google verfication

The one google service I can’t go without is YouTube.
Unfortunately, when I try to log into my account, Google wants me to verify my identity using my phone. That is no longer possible after degoogling it, because the notifications with pressing yes and inputting the two-digit number seen on screen no longer appears. Neither can I go into my options and click on Google to verify my account. Is there a way to fool google into only ever giving me verification request using SMS? Cause that still works. Or is there some way of getting google verification to run on /e/OS?

Not sure what you need from YouTube but you could use NewPipe from F-Droid (or GitHub) and without a Account you can subscribe to channels, etc.

Surly this is asking too much? I would not expect my /e/OS to feed information to Google.

I second what mihi said: Use Newpipe…

do you still have a method to login to myaccount.google.com or is your (old) phone required?

If so, enabling OTP tokens helps. They’re are an independent method to have 2FA (instead of the enter-two-number Google method)

Yeah, there was one device where I was still logged in, and I was able to add Aegis Authenticator and remove google prompt with a bit of hassle. Thanks.

great, copy the aegis backup someplace, it will be the only form of recovery then
