GPS not working on 1.21 FP3

,

Hi, with e/OS/ 1.21, on a Fairphone 3, location (gps) does not work anymore, at all.

GPSTest always reports 0/n sats and signals, where n is some non zero number, and says “no current location”.

I rebooted, powered off, checked the permissions.
I was outdoor with position enabled, for hours, it never works.

The only way to get position info seems to be activating the option “use assisted gps”, which requires internet access. As soon as internet connection is down, position stops working. This is independent of the application (maps.me, osmand, gpstest).

Any help is greatly appreciated, im travelling now and really need GPS…
Thanks

Hi,

My wife has a FP3 with 1.21-t stable and GPS works. Are you on the same version?

Take the time to check all this:

  • Settings - System - Advanced - microG - Self-Check: all ok, including location permissions
  • Settings - System - Advanced - microG - Location - Wi-Fi location - Request from Mozilla: enabled
  • Settings - System - Advanced - microG - Location - Wi-Fi location - Request from Hotspot: enabled
  • Settings - System - Advanced - microG - Location - Wi-Fi location - Remember from GPS: enabled
  • Settings - System - Advanced - microG - Location - Mobile network location - Request from Mozilla: enabled
  • Settings - System - Advanced - microG - Location - Mobile network location - Remember from GPS: enabled
  • Settings - Advanced Privacy - Location: Exposed
  • Settings - Advanced Privacy - Manage my location: Use my real location
  • Settings - Location - Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning - Wi-Fi scanning: enabled
  • Settings - Location - Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning - Bluetooth scanning: disabled
  • Settings - Location - App access to location - “Allowed only while in use”: Apps are listed

Hi, Thanks for your answer.
Yes my OS version is 1.21-t…-stable

I checked everything and it looks fine. The only options I don’t have are about Wi-Fi scanning, but I believe those are not mandatory and I don’t want to rely on Wi-Fi for localization.

However, since my first post I haven’t touched anything (I swear) but the GPS started working again for some reason.

So I don’t really know what is going on…

I have a related question: from the microG location options, I see only some of the apps that use gps.
It looks like these are the apps that rely on internet connection too (for example I do not see OsmAnd, but I see my hiking trails navigation app). Why is this?

(From the regular “app location permissions” settings I see all of them)

Thank you

Actually, GPS is still not working for me.
Sorry about my previous message.
That single time it worked it must have picked up location from a wifi network, or I dont know.
