Guidance on Requesting Feedback for Git Repository Issues

Hello /e/OS Community, I hope everyone is doing well!

I’ve recently contributed to the /e/OS Git repository by creating several issues, but I’m currently waiting for feedback from the development team. Since I want to respect the team’s workflows and ensure I’m following the right process, I thought I’d ask here:

What is the recommended way to request feedback or attention from the development team for issues submitted on the Git repository? Should I simply wait, or is there a preferred way to reach out (e.g., tagging someone, using a specific channel, or escalating through the forum)?

Here are my issues:

While the first issue is only a bit annoying, the second one is more cumbersome as I’m forced to use the default FP4 camera app which is simply not as good as the Gcam. And the third issue is problematic in that I need these apps for my job, which means I need a reliable solution. Until now, I was able to use my old smartphone with Android 11 (Google Android) as a workaround, but this version is no longer supported by my company. I would now have to buy another phone running a newer Google Android in order to install MS Teams on it. Of course, this is actually absurd, but if there’s no other way, then that’s the way it has to be.

I truly appreciate the hard work of everyone involved in this community and want to contribute constructively without causing any unnecessary disruptions.

Thank you in advance for your guidance, and I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Best regards,
mu88

The issues in Gitlab do get listed for resolution based on severity. There are also comments on the issues from the development team members on the progress in the resolution. Some of the issues may already have similar bugs posted by other users which would have more updates.

Thank you very much for your reply both here and on GitLab :pray:t2:

Despite the MS Teams issue (where you thankfully jumped in), the other issues have either not seen any updates in months or any comment at all.

Of course, there might be similar issues and I did my very best to find potentially matching existing issues. However, I haven’t been successful so far :man_shrugging:t2:

I really don’t wanna annoy or rush somebody. As a user, it’s just a bit disappointing to not get any feedback after all in months - I hope that’s understandable, too.

You may check if there’s an option in your gitlab account settings to receive notifications via mail in case comments etc are added.
From what I recall I do get notifications in that case…

No worries, sometimes such redundancy is not obvious to the lay user because finding it depends much on search criteria and context-knowledge.

There might be a misunderstanding :slightly_smiling_face: I do receive notifications if someone posts a comment. However, the development team did not share any feedback yet, i.e. there are no comments.
