Hello, I switched to a fairphone 6 with e/OS pre-installed two days ago. However, no matter what I do, I cannot receive text messages in group chats. Individual text messages send fine and I can send messages in group chats, but once I try receiving them, it doesn’t do anything. I also tried connecting RCS to no luck.
Is there anything I can do? I don’t care what method (RCS or other) is used, but I want to fix this.
is this the US / CA market? it comes up now and then. The more markets use OTT messengers, the less it’s an pressing issue. There are workarounds if the group is small and you can ask them to disable RCS:
RCS is tied to Google, but some ROMs (GrapheneOS) try to make it work, but as of now need the full Google Play services to do the initial registration. /e/OS doesn’t have the original playservices architectually and by project goals.

Or you can try to get the group to Signal Private Messenger. It just works… Without restrictions.
in the links cited was (a very long and ai-horrible) RCS thread at microg that I didnt read since end of 2025 - and apparently,.. since March this year they have a nonslop candidate by dev “opstic” that works! 
playintegrity-basicintegrity needed though, a FP6 can do that
All this makes RCS happening in microG ROMs (which /e/OS is one of) a lot more likely.
