hi i was super excited to try e os bit of a novice when it comes to flashing but have done it before so thought it would be ok, i used the web installer since it seemed convenient, i followed the instructions, i.e. make sure firmware is up to date, so i updated it to the latest version android 16 before installing (bit dumb now i know but i wanted to follow the instruction so it goes smoothly) now i am stuck in orange state and bootloop can someone please help me figure out how to get nothing os back and install e os. holding power and volume up still lets me get into fastboot and recovery just fine. any help much appreciated thank you =)
The install script is capable of changing Android version so I don’t think this will be the blocker. Please check one or two posts with hashtag eosinstaller … there is no documented way to collect a log of what went wrong so probably easier to revert to manual cli install page Install /e/OS on a Nothing Nothing CMF Phone 1 - “tetris”.
There is also [HOWTO] a Clear Guide to install "IMG-e-builds" when /e/ web installer fails
So no real harm done as the method is to install the fastboot ROM denoted by “IMG-e build”
thank you very much for replying. will i have to downgrade the phone first to android 14 in order to install e os? or is it safe to install e os the manual way without downgrading?
Yes, this is what I meant by.
The Fastboot ROM is capable and no mention of pre install a “correct” Android version appears on the install page.
just to check, i can ignore this bit? since my cmf 1 is now android 16 and the e os build im trying to install is android 14
The meaning there is to study the install page, where for the majority of devices, we are told the foundation Android version that must be used. Check on the install page yourself … no such information is given.
You could check through some of the early cmf-phone-1 posts (when we were less certain) and people confirmed no problem. There is a link also to the development page for the device on XDA.
Alternatively if you wished to Downgrade Android version under Stock ROM please check GitHub - spike0en/nothing_archive: This project indexes and preserves full firmware, and OTA update links for Nothing and CMF devices, sourced directly from official OEM servers while generating unmodified stock OTA images.
