Help troubleshooting call audio

Hello,

I’m having call audio problems on my OnePlus 5, running /e/ OS 2.4.1, both in regular telephone calls and in Signal audio calls. When I call someone, they can hear me correctly, but when they speak, I only hear gibberish—sort of a squirrelly chirping sound. However, I know its not a earpiece failure, because other audio (music, podcasts, audio messages received in Signal) plays fine. But when I’m on a call, the earpiece or headphones are gibberish when the other person speaks to me.

What should I try to troubleshoot to fix this? I know my phone is old, but I’d like to keep using it if possible.

Thanks in advance!

Maybe the problem occurs when using Bluetooth/BT.

Possible fix: Developer options, switch off “Bluetooth A2DP hardware offload”.

On my OP6 when using BT to play music, I have to disable BT before a call and even than only sound on Speaker.

Or first switch off Bluetooth and restart. Don’t use BT at all.

(The same bug as in LineageOS21 for OP6)

In iPhone there is an option for calls to have sound through the phone speaker as default.

Calling via whatsapp is working.
