Hi everyone,
I’m using /e/OS on a Fairphone 4 and I recently upgraded to v1.0 and started to use Advanced Privacy. Every time I try using the “Hide my IP address” feature, the wheel spins for minutes and minutes and never seems to find any alternative IP address. I managed to make it work once right after the upgrade, and since then I’m stuck with wheel spinning.
Any idea why and how I could sort this issue?
Thanks a lot to the /e/OS team for the impressive work.

Upstream Orbot had multiple issues with starting that were only recently fixed, I wouldn’t be surprised if Advanced Privacy inherited those same issues.

The progress bar when Orbot starts up often gets stuck with a message saying "st… arting orbot". This happens very often if Orbot is chosen start up at boot. But, this also occurs often when just starting and stopping Orbot.
In OrbotService.java, it looks like the status bar is waiting for a LOG_NOTICE_BOOTSTRAPPED, but the issue is that often Orbot's log does not contain this message after Orbot starts up. For example, when starting and stopping Orbot, the log message often gets truncated for some reason.

tor 0.4.6.8
integrated with Orbot, on various cycles of start/stop, I can gen… erate this error:
2021-12-21 12:48:02.856 7322-7622/org.torproject.android W/System.err: java.io.IOException: /data/user/0/org.torproject.android/app_TorService/data/ControlSocket open: Connection refused

after that happens, I can no longer start tor, because it doesn't proceed past this error:
2021-12-21 12:49:09.738 7322-7718/org.torproject.android I/TorService: Waiting for lock
even if unbind, and stop the OrbotService it still happens. Only a force stop of the app resolved the issue.

Same here on a Samsung S5 Neo
Thanks for the answers. Apparently a reboot of my phone made the feature work again
