How can i Delete my old topics

Hello,

In all the time that i use the eOS Community, i’ve started many topics about my old phone and several problems/questions.

How can i Delete my old topics those are not helpfull anymore?

I have made posts like selling my old phones and i only can flag these post, but it looks that i do not have the permission to delete my own posts.
And that sounds a little bit strange.
It would be easy to clean the community with unusefull topics.

I’ve been a forum user for many years. Although most people these days are using social media like Twitter/Mastadon or discourse.org or other modern platforms to discuss technical topics, I’ve found the old bulletin board style forums like phpBB to be the most effective. There are still a few around and I hope they don’t disappear altogether.

Anyway, some forums do allow users to delete their own posts, sometimes even when it’s an originating post. Some forum admins disable post deletion since it can cause threads to get chopped up and no longer make sense. Evidently that’s the way they’ve gone on this forum. I can understand the desire to disable post deletion from the admin’s point of view, but there are times when you really feel the need.

I´m not interested in Mastadon and Discourge and there are still a lot of people here on this community.
People are mailing me on old posts, so thats why i want to delete them.
I will leave a message and flag my post. It would be eassier if people can delete own posts by themself.

I have sent you a message to confirm the deletion of the old posts.
The reason why we do not allow the deletion of posts once other users have added their comments to it is that it tends to offend the others who then start new threads asking ‘why were my comments removed’. If the person requesting the deletion is the original post creator then the entire thread can be deleted. If not then that specific post can be hidden from other users.

Meanwhile at the end of all pages in this forum (apart from the infinite scrolling ones) …

I guess this is up to discourse (the software) to handle gracefully, as in allow individual post-scrubbing, but not the whole thread.

When a thread with good solutions goes completely missing it puts to a disadvantage answering users.

Wherever solutions are cross referenced in other threads, the content no longer resolves.

If the content of the original author is removed - without blackholing the thread - that is fair enough.
