How can I disable Bliss launcher?

Hi,
I’m absolutely sick and tired of trying to find apps by swiping through 11 screens of unorganized apps with user and work apps thrown together haphazardly. It’s really making me avoid using my tablet.

Unfortunately, I can’t “just install another launcher”. When I do this on my Galaxy Tab, with every other launcher I’ve tried, something in the OS gets upset and keeps trying to launch Bliss again causing various problems. Is there anyway I can disable or remove this thing completely without root? Any ADB commands?

And this is after you set your other launcher as the default in Settings - Apps - Default Apps - Home app?

Yes … Uninstall default apps - #29 by AnotherElk … but it might not be advisable …

HI AnotherElk,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, it only starts after setting teh alternative launcher to deafult.

NOTE: For anyone else struggling with this, I’ve just accidentally discovered the solution.

Go to Settings>System>Buttons

Toggle “Enable taskbar” to Off

That seems to have resolved the issue for the moment.

You can place apps of the same catagory in folders. That way you save space and get a better overview.

I don’t have an “Enable Taskbar” in the settings. Search finds it, but then it’s not there.

I think it’s a tablet only setting

Thanks Mrtn, but I didn’t fancy the idea of wasting hours manually sorting 200+ apps into folders when I knew installing a normal, usable launcher with a sensible app drawer with automatic alphabetization and separation of user and work apps would solve every problem in 30 seconds. *Especially as Bliss launcher has had a tendency to completely clear custom layouts in the past.

Bliss launcher is absolutely horrible.

Sigh, yeah. I know it’s bad form to complain about FOSS that you get for free, but this bug means I’ve been forced to use it for weeks, and I’ve developed a lot of annoyance with it. 5 years in existence and it still can’t organize apps alphabetically, :disappointed: That said, I do like the widegets screen.

I don’t have much experiences with launchers but just as a curious and honest question; why are you sticking with /e/ if one core aspect annoys you so much? Maybe the grass is greener with Lineage directly?

Bliss is really my only paper cut with /e/ and, while its a big one, it’s usually easily solved. With my previous devices replacing it with another launcher was always the very first thing I did after finishing flashing and set up. Other than that I think Gael and the team have done a fantastic job building a more refined and private experience on top of Lineage.

Disabling “taskbar” in settings worked for me. I had to search for this setting via the searchfied in settings as I could not find it manually.
Result: I can set open launcher as standart launcher instead of bliss.
