How do I edit my own posts on this platform?

I noticed that I cannot edit my own posts. At least I don’t see a button for this purpose. Why is that?

There is a row of small icons underneath each post, including ‘like / heart’, ‘link’, ‘three dots’ and ‘Reply’. For your own posts, there should be a ‘pencil’ icon, which allow you to edit the post. If thta icon is not there, it may be a bug (or maybe you have not been a member long enough to have earned sufficient ‘trust’ to edit posts).

Or maybe the posts were too old.

I also can’t. And the post I tried is from yesterday. :frowning:

I access the forum from a Firefox-based web browser (Waterfox) on a laptop running MacOS 12.7.6, and that’s where I see the ‘edit’ icon.

How are you accessing the forum: from laptop or phone?

EDIT:

Just tried accessing the forum from my phone: Firefox-based web browser (Fennec) on a Sony Xperia 10 v running LineageOS for microG, and the edit icon is visible there too. So not a phone / laptop issue. Maybe a browser issue? Are you using a Chromium-based browser? Just checked and the buttons are there in Safari also.

It’s a mystery

No, it’s because of that imao strange Discourse policy. You cannot edit posts, that are older than X.

Always on a PC because of the screen size. On the PC (Windows, Linux) I use Floorp (a firefox derivate) with a uMatrix derived addon.

It’s interesting, here in Linux I can edit my above entry, some days old. On Windows I can’t.
