How do you handle charge map applications?

Hi all, I’m considering switching to e/OS but am wondering how people deal with charge map applications like chargemap or free2move. Do they work correctly with microG, or do they really need gg maps?

Hi @daise welcome to the /e/ user forum.

When considering what will work with /e/ one can check compatibility with

and

Both sources are available as an app installable in regular Android.

Chargemap got an OK in both.

There is an EV map app on F-Droid

Thanks @aibd, that’s very helpful!
The thing is, I wasn’t careful enough when choosing my RFID badge: it works in relatively few stations, and the only app I found knowing this is the “free2move charge” app, which doesn’t seem to feature in either list. I’m (very) happy to be corrected on this.
So if any user has feedback on it, I’d be grateful – and I’ll sure leave mine on both sites you mentioned in due course :innocent: .

This is so much not_my_subject that I had to look up the significance of RFID in EV and found this RFID Card for EV Charging Explained | Pro EV in a quick search.

The element of Google “convenience” and effectively networking banking into the app that can make apps like Free2move Charge poor performers in /e/OS (but I don’t know this).

Maybe you are fully committed to your RFID but maybe if stations are hard to find it would be appropriate to search for stations by speed and price, paying with a different medium (??).

I’m indeed not committed to this particular RFID, you’re right, I could change this instead of worrying about /e/OS.

(The reason I’m worried is that I’m actually inquiring for my partner’s phone, but don’t myself own a smartphone, so usually rely only on the RFID.)

Thanks again!
