How to choose a phone if "Vendor Security Patch Level" old?

Hi all.
Please tell me what phones or manufacturers of the “Vendor Security Patch Level” phones is fresh?

Are these the phones that the manufacturer supports? For example, like OnePlus?

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the deGoogled mobile OS and online servicesphone

Whatever the Brand, only most recent models are still supported by their vendor,

GogolPhone seems to have a Long Time Support…

Thank you for your answer. It turns out that only the two companies, OnePlus and G@@gle support ALL of its phones, including older models? We are not considering the situation with new models of telphones. I wonder what companies support, including old models of phones that are here Smartphone Selector

How is my Pixel 4a still supported by Google?

You can find out by looking here
Settings > About phone > Android version > Vendor security patch level

I am aware of that.

Just for your information, this is the value: 5. September 2023.

That is why I asked how come that device is still supported

Given that eOS users are mostly here to avoid Gogle software on their devices, then isn’t it a risk to use Pixels ? The fact that there’s a vendor security patch level means there is vendor software running below eOS and in Pixels, Gogle controls what’s in that sofware regardless of the OS sitting on top.

I actually don’t know but given how many customROM exist and some of the privacy friendly only for Pixel, than I would say there is not risk

No network activity was observed.

Do you have a link that documents what tests are done and who does them ? Are the tests run again after every vendor patch is emitted to see if anything has changed in the underlying vendor software ?

No i don’t, i just remember users here analysing traffic using their firewall

A good point, I’ve thought about that as well. We’re here to avoid transmitting data to Google, yet in some cases we use Google hardware and ironically the Pixel phones are the best supported and easiest to deal with.

Other hardware vendors have their own security patches and they could be putting stuff in there we want to avoid as well. Vendors do extensive modifications to Google Android for their particular models.

Though you have to remember it’s not just the hardware, all of the third party Android ROMs like /e/os are built from AOSP which is open source, but Google has primary control over the project.

It’s surely possible Google is doing things at the hardware level or even at the AOSP level that violate our sense of privacy, but at least we’re not simply handing over all our data on a silver platter as the case with Google Android. We’re not going to be guaranteed absolute privacy as long as we’re running something based on AOSP, but I think it’s going to be good enough and hugely better than the case for the average consumer.

Okay, it turns out that apart from the OnePlus G@@gle Pixel phones, the rest of the companies don’t support soy phones, right? For example, Samsung, Xiaomi, or LG do not support older phone models, so we can see that the Vendor “Security Patch Level” is not marked in green.
