How to disable extension compatibility checking in Mull

Hi

I have ublock origin as an extension installed on Mull (125.0.3). Some time ago, Mull suddenly decided that ublock origin was not verified to be safe and deactivated it and won’t let me reactivate it. I can’t update this extension as my version of firefox (Mull) is too old. I found different instructions on how to disable extension compatibility checking but they all seem to be outdated as they didn’t work for me. I also tried to enable the debug mode (if it could do any help) as explained here: Extensions in Mull - #5 by LilBeth, but I couldn’t make that work.

Is there any way to disable extension compatibility checking on Mull so that ublock origin could work again, or should I switch to a different browser that is not patronizing its users by enforcing on them questionable policies without letting them a way to circumvent them?

Thanks for any help!

Is this the official Android version of Firefox you are using? If you update to the latest version of Firefox Android and uBlock Origin there should not be an issue. UBO is actively under development and they would be aware of and correct any compatibility issues.

Otherwise you may be able to change that behavior through hidden settings. Under your Firefox profile there is a flat prefs.js file that contains a good number of settings not present in the settings menus. You can pull any of those out and copy them off to a text file you create in the same location named user.js. It loads those settings on startup and overrides prefs.js. I use Firefox and UBO on PC myself with a user.js file to modify some hidden settings.

Hey!
Mull is not under development anymore.
Use IronFox instead: IronFox OSS / IronFox · GitLab.
Let me know how it goes!

Either Mull was preinstalled in my Fairphone 3, or I installed it with App Lounge or F-Droid. I then installed Fennec, and uBlock Origin works here. I also followed the advice from ethical_haquer and installed IronFox as well from F-Droid, as it looks like to be better for the privacy. uBlock Origin works here as well, however, youtube ads are not blocked as they are with Fennec. Both Fennec und IronFox have only uBlock Origin as extension in my smartphone.

By the way, by updating Mull to latest, uBlock Origin works again. But even with an outdated browser, I would expect, that what worked before should continue working, instead of arbitrarily disable extensions.
