How to enable push notifications from a webapp

I have a Murena FP6 running /e/os 4.0-a15-20260610633983-official-FP6

App Compatibility 0.3.15.250932-17

MicroG companion 0.3.15.40226-17

The self check, shows all blue ticks, but I’m not able to get the self check to re-run and the ticks look “greyed-out” making me wonder if the info is correct.

Online docs imply that there should be some MicroG configuration, where I can enable/disable push notifications. I can’t find ANY MicroG configuration at all.

What am I missing? Any pointers would be welcome.

Thanks

Seb

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the deGoogled mobile OS and online services

Settings > System > App compatibility > Cloud messaging.

If at first unsuccessful you could uninstall the app (perhaps reboot).

Settings > System > App compatibility > Google device registration: toggle on.

Reinstall the app, if necessary reinstate Cloud messaging.

Test notifications.

Turn off Google registration if “one off registration” was sufficient.

I see this in dark theme, nicely bright out of dark theme.

Thanks for your response, Aibd.

I can open Settings > System > App compatibility > Cloud messaging fine.

The apps that I’d like to enable push notifications for are webapps - installed from a web page - not apps downloaded from the App Lounge. They don’t appear in the list of registered Cloud messaging apps.

I have enabled push notifications in the webapps. Is there anything else I should try?

Thanks

Seb

UnifiedPush is an alternative to Google’s Cloud messaging which I flagged as fitting

Here is a ntfy blog Going Google-Free with UnifiedPush in /e/OS — julian.

Maybe your apps are using Web push notifications Web Push Notifications: A Comprehensive Guide for Developers.

That’s an interesting article. However, there is no Unified Push option in my System settings.

You are right it just runs in the background.
