How to fix Sony Xperia XA2 missing sim card

@Damio @andrelam @manoj
I’ve just installed the newest e0.15-q-20210312105636-dev-discovery to my XA2 Ultra H4233 (with lots of help from chrisrg), but neither calls nor messages are working. I tried simple dialer as a replacement app, but it didn’t fix the issue.

It seems many things have been discussed in various threads:
A. remove and replace the sim card until it works
B. Try all the open source dialers until one works
C. Use DD to firmware the slot and something like that and then OTA?
D. Start over with an older version of /e/, perhaps 1.13?
E. Buy a new phone that /e/ has less issues with?

Has an easy workaround been settled on, since so many people have worked through this issue? C through E sound scary in different ways.

As I mention in the opening post of this thread there seems to be an issue with the firmware on the B partition. If you have adb working on your computer copying from A to B is really the simplest solution (and the cheapest :wink: )

Thank you. I did end up going that route, and it’s working great on two XA2’s (one ultra) so far, although I haven’t tried the OTA update yet.
