How to let apps autostart?

For example I would like to autostart my VPN client when the phone switches on.

So I conclude you have to start all programs by hand when you switch on an e phone … strange thing

I am new here and have the same question. Also for VPN client and to remove an analog clock, which managed to go into autostart without my intention.
I am using a fairphone 4 with /e/OS v1.15 at the moment

At least the VPN client should start automatically when you’ve chosen “VPN always active” (network & internet > VPN > always active; don’t know which english expression is used there, in german it’s "durchgehend aktives VPN).
