How to put icons on the workspace (desktop)

Device is a Murena FP5 with /e/os 2.5-t-20241108446629-official-FP5.
I have the standard application icons on the screen, in addition f-droid, document viewer, fb reader, amaze, and DB Navigator ones. I got aware that the system has a quite acceptable PDF viewer, MJ PDF. I would like to be able to call that from a screen icon, not justs from settings-apps-show all apps-open.
Is there a way? Also, how can I rearrange, e.g. removing icons I do not need?

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the unGoogled mobile OS and online servicesphone

Press and hold any current desktop icon until it “shimmers or wiggles” then drag it to where you want it even next screen. To stop moving items press the round dot at bottom of screen.

Thanks a lot. Still, I am not completely happy  .
First, I do not know how, it at all, to place the app or builtin gadget MJ PDF onto “desktop”
Second, I do not know how, if at all, to remove an icon.
Third, I would like the icons to be smaller. :sunglasses:

To explain: On my ancient S4 mini with Lineage, I could choose to have any, or no “app icon” on the screen, that way, I could arrange what I need, not what the creators choose me to be happy with. I miss that sadly. There are several things I certainly never need, or rarely.

Any way to get closer to that?
