How to restrict access to contacts for certain apps?

Hello all,

e/os is advertising slogans like "regain your privacy’’ but I have not found a way to restrict certain apps to a definable subset of contacts. Instead using a well-known messenger leads to all your contacts being stolen thanks to a set of general terms you have to acknowledge to use it at all.
I really cannot see how e/os helps me with privacy in this very, very, very obvious area.
Searching the net I only found this ## You Can Finally Control Which Contacts an App Can Access in iOS 18
Now that is really not what I had hoped to find out…
Any ideas?

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the unGoogled mobile OS and online servicesphone

create a second user in the system (shelter) with its own addresses - but it would still be all or nothing.

Slightly kludgy, but another approach is to have contacts owned by a separate Contacts/Dialer app instead of the system - OpenContacts | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository

Nice feature in iOS 18. Guess Google will introduce this themselves in Android and it will trickle down to the ROMs.

I know the general idea from someone using GrapheneOS and how sh*tty it is in daily life. To me it is obvious one needs an interface like IOS does it. Everything else is just a bad workaround for something that lacks a real solution.
