I have the same good question…
I thought a moment that installing the Talkback app from App lounge would do the trick. When activated, it seems to work correctly but the 3 /e/ OS buttons at the bottom of the screen are not double click enabled: impossible to move from the current app (must restart phone, open Parameters and force close Talkback to exit this situation).
Before I open an issue on Gitlab, and to ensure this is not specific to my phone, did anyone have this situation?
I think you do have to install an app with text to speech ability. Many have privacy issues, or else the small footprint apps are a little inconvenient to use in my experience.
