The method to take screenshots is defined by your phone and not by /e/. It should be the same way you took it with the stock ROM. For example on the Mi Mix 2 (/e/OS) and the samsung s7 (stock) it is volume down + power button.

Hi, sometimes you can also take screenshots by long clicking on the power button. Just as you would do to turn off your phone. You’ll then maybe have the option to take a screenshot:
this option musst be enable in Settings / advanced power menu. And if you push the screenshot button for a longer time you can select the screenshot area

I hope someone can help me: I am a newbie with /e/ so this question might be dumb, but can anyone explain me why I can take screenshots in some apps but not not in other?
E.g. I would like to take a screenshot in the default browser app on /e/ 0.18, but I always receive a message that screenshots couldn’t be saved due to settings in the app or managed by my organisation (manual translation from DE). I couldn’t find a setting to adjust nor could I find an answer to this question in the forum, wondering whether this is a “local” problem only on my device…
in android 7,8,9,10, go to the -->settings -->developper options,
enable the advanced restart menu…( )
It will add a shortcut to screenshots in power menu
the feature exist in android 11, but It is not in developper option it is under -->settings -->system -->gesture -->power menu
After some try & error I managed to enable the developer options in /e/ OS (which was quite different to the Android-based description: Settings → About phone → press several times on “Build number”). Unfortunately it seems as if this doesn’t offer me the desired feature. A lots of new settings are shown but I still couldn’t find the ability to enable screenshots for the build-in /e/ browser. I also could not find a new shortcut on my phone.
Finally I disabled the developer options again (Settings → System / Advanced → Developer options → Off), assuming enablement of this feature was not intented for usage by end-users (like me).
I don’t think you need to enable Developer Options: Settings | System | Buttons | Power menu allows you to enable use of long press on the power key to take a screenshot
I have used this functionality within the /e/ Browser app, without problems

I understand the behaviour and know it from my banking app, but I’ve never experienced it in the Browser.
Yes, I can confirm that - it is exactly the way like I use the screenshot feature. In some apps I am successful, in others like the /e/ browser I am not and receiving a notification that this was not allowed.
According to the feedback I received, I assume this is something special on my site (or nobody is using this browser)…

Sure, the community helps indeed kindly with hints or recipes. IMO, this issue longs for a bug report clearly.
Do not hesitate to ask on forum next time either. You get a feeling soon for making difference between bugs/issues and “just not knowing”.

I have created an issue as recommended (https://gitlab.e.foundation/e/backlog/-/issues/3749) and while doing so I could identify my “special” settings which caused the issue:
If incognito mode is active, screenshots are blocked. If not, screenshots can be taken
I don’t know whether this is a bug or a feature but if the latter, I would expect a documentation somehow/somewhere (which I haven’t found yet).

BTW: Am I the only one who finds it difficult, keeping the overview of all the different /e/-related accounts needed and recognizing that these are really different accounts (1x Shop if you started there, 1x Forum to publish posts, 1x Email/Cloud if you want to, 1x Github for Bug reporting)?
