Icon in the form of a crossed-out globe

Hi :wave:t2:

From time to time, the following icon appears for a while and then disappears again:

I’m wondering what this is about, any ideas? It’s not the Data Saver mode, I’m not using this feature.

Thx!

Basic stuff:

  • Device: Fairphone 4
  • OS: /e/OS 2.3-t-20240816426372-stable-FP4

Firewall perhaps?

Does it /e/OS ship with a built-in firewall? Because I haven’t installed one…

Advanced Privacy has a tracker blocker … https://doc.e.foundation/support-topics/advanced_privacy … but I don’t know whether it triggers the icon.

Roaming off… maybe?

It does mean Firewall, just not sure in which context

Doesn’t it appear on your devices from time to time, too? Or do you ignore it? Or did you turn it off?

After some 2.# update it was shown to me, after rebooting. It disappeared pretty fast again, therefore I didn’t give much attention to it.

Do you use parental control or any other newer feature?

No, Parental Control its turned off hand there is no no bother firewall app like NetGuard or so - just there built-in Advanced Privacy feature.

Did you deny background data usage for any app?

Yes, for a couple of apps. Could it be this?

For a small number of apps I have unchecked ‘Allow network access’ (under ‘Mobile data and wi-fi’ for each app) and the icon appears when I run those apps, so I’ve always assumed it’s a firewall indicator.
