Install eOS a second time, how?

Hi,
getting stuck at the install guide documentation https://doc.e.foundation/devices/FP5/install
Chapter Unlocking the bootloader
Step 6. is already done:

fastboot flashing unlock
< waiting for any device >
FAILED (remote: '	Device already : unlocked!')
fastboot: error: Command failed

Step 9. is already done:

fastboot flashing unlock_critical
FAILED (remote: '	Device already : unlocked!')
fastboot: error: Command failed

What about?:
Step 10. " Approve with volume + then power

  • The device proceeds with a factory reset, and automatically reboots"

Something more to do?
How to go further in chapter:
Installing /e/OS?

Unzip the archive

 unzip <fileyoudownloaded>

In the command above, replace with path of the downloaded archive.
Alternatively, you can unzip the archive using a File Manager/File Explorer.

How to unzip?
Were the file needs to be placed?
Copy the zip-file e.g. “IMG-e-2.0-t-20240506399547-stable-FP5.zip” to the phone?
And than?

Thank you.

I have never don’t a FP5 and the method is different than I am used to but it looks like the next step (both Linux and Windows) is:

chmod +x flash_FP5_factory.sh && ./flash_FP5_factory.sh

But still as said run on PC?
Chapter Unlocking the bootloader
Step 5. “All the console commands are run on an adb enabled PC and in the adb console.”
So, just unzip

<fileyoudownloaded> e.g. “IMG-e-2.0-t-20240506399547-stable-FP5.zip”

anywhere on my computer?

And in the anywhere folder, were “flash_FP5_factory.sh” is located, do:

chmod +x flash_FP5_factory.sh && ./flash_FP5_factory.sh

Will try tomorrow.

you have to be in the directory where these files are:

bin-linux-x86
bin-msys
flash_FP5_factory.sh
and the *.img files are

The question/irritation where are the files located came from “LineageOS” install procedure were you need to sideload the file to the phone.
1. Question solved: File is on the computer and commands are in terminal at computer.

2. Question (open): because of…

fastboot flashing unlock
< waiting for any device >
FAILED (remote: '	Device already : unlocked!')
fastboot: error: Command failed

Step 9. is already done:

fastboot flashing unlock_critical
FAILED (remote: '	Device already : unlocked!')
fastboot: error: Command failed

…is it enough to have (to be in) this FastBoot Mode (Device State unlocked)?
fp5c

Because
2. Question (open):
Docs say:
Installing /e/OS

Boot into bootloader/fastboot mode.
Power OFF the device.
Hold Power + Volume Down button combo simultaneously. [NOT working on my device!!]
Run the installer script on Terminal

What is expected with "Hold Power + Volume Down button combo simultaneously"?
Just “bootloader/fastboot mode” as in my screenshot?

Than the command can be executed?

chmod +x flash_FP5_factory.sh && ./flash_FP5_factory.sh

Thanks!

Hi Peeos,
I see there is a topic about FP5 might interest you for updating the phone e/OS/ for FP5 with recent security patches? - #6 by Macstodon.
As your title “Install /e/OS a second time, how ?”, does it mean you have already a 1.20 or 1.21 on your phone? In this case, do you see in Parameters/Update Manager the notification for a new one to proceed?
Kind regards.

As i understand, you have an /e/OS (and recovery-e) already installed,
So there is an alternative and easiest solution
in your case you can install from the recovery mode using an OTA file
e-2.0-t-20240506399547-stable-FP5.zip (not IMG-e-2.0-t-20240506399547-stable-FP5.zip)

Go direct to step (8) or (9) of this guide
