hi
kernelsu is currently not supported on murena e/OS. i checked Installation | KernelSU and learned different ways of ksu’s integration.
before i start to tinker on my phone i’m wondering if e/OS kernel might be adapted in order ksu is supported native or by kprobe.
has somebody already installed ksu and would be so kind to provide a howto?

Magisk way to gain root is not an option for you ?
magisk is a patch solution. i would prefer a more reliable and secure way of loadable kernelmodul solution. loadable kernelmodules are part of kernel source and compiled in kernels environment. furthermore .. are easy and reliable to install / uninstall.
Normally KernelSU patches your boot image by itself, if it detects that you already have a new enough kernel (i.e. gives you the option to do it in its menu). I can’t imagine it would work any differently for /e/OS since there are so few steps to it in the official guide. For older kernels you have to do the work yourself, to integrate KSU into a custom build of your kernel, which means Android developer - not just “power user” - knowledge, or you need to find this already done by someone else you will choose to trust to not give you a kernel full of backdoors, malware etc. 
Apparently a newer project called KernelSU-Next has somewhat streamlined this rebuild process for older systems, but not enough that I could follow it on my own. Still, I guess KSUN makes it more likely that you will find a ready-made build for your device, which was my case for the OnePlus 9: I found a ready-made AnyKernel3 version specifically for this phone, with KSUN and SuSFS already integrated into it, flashed it on top of my already working /e/OS 4.2 (A16), and everything seems fine so far, I was able to install Zygisk-Next and a newer fork of LSPosed called Vault (available in KSUN’s own modules repository), and tried a root-based LSposed module I was interested in.
Play Integrity checking fails to run because of some API error many others are seeing on other A16 systems, so I can’t really tell yet if all integrity checks are passing, but I will just have to try installing the one banking app I need on this phone and see if that works.
LE: Banking app works. At least it’s accepting my setup, it activates, runs, shows my accounts, cards, amounts, everything looks OK at first glance.
