Installing to an Android Tablet

I’ll be frank. I’m looking to install another ROM/Distro of Android onto a tablet.

It’s just a basic tablet running a stock version of the Android OS. The tablet is a knock-off they don’t sell anymore on Amazon; but I know it has Google services installed everywhere on the thing. I’m looking to a method or means to de-google the thing and asked around which lead me here.

Has there been an attempt to create an Android Tablet version for this OS? Mostly for just a basic tablet.

Hi @Sparth welcome to the /e/ forum.

The very first step is to find the device codename [HOWTO] Find device codename then from

Settings > About phone > tap Andriod version

find out what Android version is running and in the same area any clues to manufacturer or the software source if the software was cloned.

Ok;

Came back with:
And. Ver: Android 14
Version Number: BigdroidOS 3.0.1.011800
Build Numer: 863C_C10_20240606
Model: C10

Other Details
AUMI OS Ver.: 2.0

What an obscur device !
You still didn’t provide device product codename…

Look like a chinese product sold under multiple brands…

There will be no device-specific custom android OS version for it at my knowledge

  1. Inform yourself about GSI install requirements, (Generic System Image)

  2. Try to install the /e/ a14 based GSI available on this forum

I gave an Amazon Link to what the tablet was in the first post of the Topic;

I guess that’s not enough?

My advise for a well compatible and cheap Tablet are :

Samsung Tab S2 (gts210ltexx) SM-T815
or
Samsung Tab S2 VE (gts210velte) SM-T819

OK; following THAT guide, I ran dev tool to check on the device [DevCheck] and have found!!!..

Manufacturer: FancyDay
Product:C10US
Device:C10
Running: Android 14; UpsideDown Cake?

…Should I just send snapshots?

Your tablet is registered with Google as

Retail Branding Marketing Name Device Model
FancyDay C10US C10 C10

… so this would be the information to use to search for devs working on the device. Trying XDA https://xdaforums.com/search/72470784/?q=Fancy+Day+C10&o=relevance I find no hits, but you could keep looking. Allwinner have said that they publish sources openly but actually some blobs are held back; off topic for here but you might find the tablet partially supported by Linux.

So your best bet for /e/OS is as said by @piero, GSI.

A recent ROM is /e/OS-U GSI (A14) UNOFFICIAL - #71 by Colors, be sure to read the thread from the top for method (which is not trivial for a new user :slightly_smiling_face: )
