Irish language functionality

Hi there,

i’m an Irish (gaelige) learner living in Ireland, and having just switched from iphone 7 to fairphone 4 with e/os was disappointed that it seems I cant switch typing language between English and Irish. I can set my preferred languages to English and Irish but not the keyboard or dictionary.

There is also no sign of Teanglann, the most comprehensive and popular online Irish language dictionary, on the app lounge, despite it being available for apple and android.

Would appreciate guidance on how to set these up if im missing something or if someone from e/os could try get these into an update that’d be class.

Maybe you can try an alternative keyboard app like Fossify Keyboard or Simple Keyboard.

I can find that app on my Fairphone 4, package name = com.idmgroup.fng.retro (use this to search for the app), you should find it as well.

Thanks, I can see the app now actually but it says N/A next to it instead of install and when you click it says app currently unsupported.

Ill try those keyboard apps now  Cheers

Maybe this can help you :

I logged out/in and cleared the app lounge storage but Teanglann is still showing n/a and unsupported.

The keyboard apps unfortunately don’t have Irish at the moment so still looking if anyone has suggestions or knows if there is an update planned for the e/os one.

Cheers

What version of /e/OS are you using on your Fairphone 4?

I tried Florisboard and was able to add an Irish layout to the keyboard.

Its version 2.5 and it also says android 13.
