Is it possible to disable auto charge mode when cell phone is on and USB-C gets connected?

My experience is accidental battery charge spoils down battery much faster than thoughtful charging.

As a conclusion I’d like my android ask to charge when I connect usb-c cable (with some extra functionality on the cable - like HDMI adapter)

is it possible?

I’m running latest e/OS on Samsung S10

Have you tried in - developer options - Standard USB Configuration…?

I can see developer options > ‘default usb configuration’ but cannot see anything to turn off power charging …
