Is it really deGoogled?

Im a little bit confused about this deGoogling Part

" * No use of Google servers to check connectivity"
It says right here it it doesnt use google servers to check connectivity and yet in my dns logs it clearly shows its still connecting to metric.gstatic.com

Can anyone enlighten me about this feature?
