Is it safe to lock bootloader? (V3.4)

I followed these instructions and successfully installed /e/os, however I installed v3.3, with the security version being the 1st of December 2025, while my device’s security version being 5th of December 2025.

I managed to update /e/os to 3.4, which changed the security to the 1st of January 2026, this means logically it’s now safe to lock the bootloader, but fastboot flashing get_unlock_ability is returning 0, which when looking around is not a good sign and would brick my phone if I locked the bootloader.

I am unsure whether I can lock the bootloader, it’d be ideal so I can access my banking apps.

I took the plunge!

It seemed to have worked! No bricking!

I don’t think this is a good measure in my opinion, I had mixed experience with it. But if one doesn’t know the SPL which was on it before, then it is a possible measure.

Good, as long as you are sure that you are not attempting to rollback lock will be safe.

Get unlock_ability does not check the rollback index.

Hello @axiinyaa, Welcome to the /e/OS forum.

e-3.4-a15-FP5 is not yet released so i advise to not relock today, but wait a couple of days !

How did you do that? As @piero already mentioned, it has not been released yet.
