I am having a problem with MMS, as I need to set up one APN for mobile internet and a different one for MMS. That doesn’t seem to be possible. Is there a workaround? It would be nice to be able to send MMS messages.
Here are the parameters the carrier says I should use.
You should be able to just add an additional new APN, fill in the settings as directed in the Telenor SE section you linked, and save.
So you’ll have Telenor mobilsurf and Telenor SE saved. Just click to enable Telenor mobilsurf as the active APN. The phone and network should then use the required APN of the two as needed.
When I try to save the settings, nothing seems to happen. Not all the fields specified in the instructions seen to be present. And should I write something in the fields that are “not specified” in the instructions?
Possibly you left out a required field or added something with a typo.
That shouldn’t be a problem, as they’re probably added to a configuration file somewhere in the Android file system once connection is established, or are present in a “universal” carrier list in the file system.
No. Add only the fields that the Telenor guide shows in boldface, exactly as written, and nothing else. Be exact with punctuation, characters, spaces, spelling, and capitalization (or lack thereof).
Here they are, in Finnish. If that’s a problem, I can change the language of the phone. Please tell if you see something missing. When i press “save”, nothing happens.
This is what they look like. I’m also wondering why the (de)activate APN switch is grayed out, but maybe that is because there only is one APN? The phone is a Pixel 7.
Could you connect to the mobile network, then dial *#*#INFO#*#*, tap “Phone information,” and scroll to near the bottom where the MCC and MNC values are displayed? What are the values shown there?
Searching around various troubleshooting forums this morning, I’ve seen a couple of recommendations to reset the active APN, then recreate the APN, which might enable saving APNs again. I don’t know if it works.
If you’re using an eSIM, I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to reset the APN, though.
@Kallekn: Could you please give the exact value in the Telenor Mobilsurf - apn? I have Vimla too, and I can’t figure how to send/receive MMS.
(Du får jättegärna skriva ut alla värden helt och hållet om du orkar. Jag har försökt få igång MMS i två dagar nu utan att lyckas. Allt annat verkar funka som det ska.)
Do you see more than one APN? I don’t think i succeeded in saving any new values. Finally I erased the one and only APN I could see, and after that there was a whole list of them and MMS started working.
I inserted the sim-card in an old KaiOS-phone, and wrote down the apn-settings for MMS. They were different than the ones I had on my Moto/Eos phone (and the ones given on Vimla!s webpage).
So, if anyone uses Vimla! and can’t get MMS working, try these settings:
