ItsMe barcode scanning not working

ItsMe is the default 2-factor authentication app for many Belgian public services and government websites. Since last month, SMS verification in the app has been disabled for all government websites. However, scanning barcodes, the new default verification integration does not seem to work. The app does not seem to detect the barcode. When scanning the barcode in the photo app, values are detected. Does anyone experience the same issue? Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks

I’m using a fairpone 6 and e/os v3.5.a15…

Scanning with mygov not working

@eboelens

When you disable appTracking, geo spoofing and IP hiding, scanning using the myGov app works. When you enable them, the scanning process doesn’t work. I hope this helps …

I had a similar issue with myfitnesspal a few years ago. The app is probably using Google Play services for barcode scanning. Scan barcodes with ML Kit on Android  |  Google for Developers. It wasn’t supported in microG when I last checked.

Why you’d need to use Google Play and machine learning for reading a barcode, when small low power devices have been able to that since the 1980’s is a different question.

disable appTracking, geo spoofing and IP hiding didn’t help
