yes it is,
“R” was dropped and the FP2 don’t meet the requirements to support new kernel
Thanks ! Does this mean that the FP2 won’t receive security updates any longer and is more or less doomed in the short term ? If yes, any alternative OS ?
Hi Piero!
I did the e-2.3-r-20250113-legacy-FP2 zip install over DivestOS and it worked fine ![]()
Here is the screenshot:
yes,
since 2024.02.05 (fabruary), android 11 based system won’t receive security-patch from Gogol. it will be the same for android 12 based system soon…
So, /e/OS llike LineageOS have dropped support.
there will be no more “dev” = “community” nor “legacy” updates or upgrades.
only “unofficial” upgrades may come if sources are created for later android,
But as far as i understand, the processor can’t stand recent android kernel…
i have added the missing partitions into the folder,
can someone test the IMG-e-2.3-r-20250113-legacy-FP2.zip ?
the included install- script called flash_FP2_factory.sh should work now.
@piero sorry but I am missing the point of this thread, why the hell bothering installing e/OS on FP2 if it will be barely be usable a few more months ?
The point is simply : /e/OS-R is better than stock OS, but no more available from e.foundation web site…
It took me some time to figure it out:
First I was trying in CMD to run the bash script and it was failing to find the FP2 in Fastboot mode, even if “Minimal ADB and Fastboot portable” detected it.
But it was the same for the last official so nothing to do with your build…
Then I read the official documentation (RTFM
) and I found out that I first needed to install Git, then Ctrl + right click and “Open Git Bash here”…
(I’m used to the TWRP method so first time I discover that…)
Installation is successful ![]()
How, a windobeOS PC ? like in the 20th century !
.
Again thank you, having given time to create an account for testing this build
.
some users testing other legacy build for others devices, complain about Browser crash, and some other apps too… do you se something like that ?
I’m at work, doing some FP2-install-games during my coffee break
. So I didn’t have a choice for the OS…
I had some UI crashes, but also on the last official so I guess it’s not specific to your build.
I’ve tested it offline so far, so I haven’t tried the browser yet. ![]()
@piero is your legacy 2.3 version quite stable or should I use the latest “dev” 2.2 for everyday use ?
as developpement in R branch was dropped just after version 2.2 release,
there were no change between e-2.2-r and e-2.3-r versions.
so take the “dev” one builded by /e/ available here :
[LEGACY_BUILDS] collection for /e/ OS supported "legacy devices"
i simply toke my hands on the last “dev” build after have created the “legacy” build…
Hi !
First of all : thank you for the awesome work ! This is (to the best of my knowledge) the only way for me to have a near up to date google-free OS on my FP2. Your work allow to keep this working device alive, so a million thanks ![]()
I’ve installed the e-2.3-r-20250113-legacy-FP2 version, and most of the app work fine.
However when I try to open an email content through the K9mail app (or Thunderbird app, which is roughly the same), or when I try to connect to a serveur using the Nextcloud app, I get the following error dlopen failed: library "libmonochrome.so" not found (I can share the full trace if required, which I get using adb logcat)
Does that ring a bell to you ? If yes, do you know a work-around ?
If not, no worries, I’ll raise an issue on k9mail/Nextcloud github repo.
Thanks again !
Hi I found some issues with the unofficial 2.3 version. I advise to reinstall the official 2.2
