I would appreciate a feature which lets you limit the state of charge to 80 or 85 percent without rooting the device.
I tend to use my phones longer than two years and this option would be great to extend the battery life.

I’m using batterybot to warn me when battery is less than 15% and more than 85 %
would love that too.
At the moment I use Automate or Macrodroid to give a notification if 95% charging is reached.
Both apps have their qualities and both are able to give a charging limit reached notification.

Already exists for Fairphone 3+, 4 and 5 so I guess it’s device dependent.
For some it can be set depending on the alarm or certain tihe usage. Not great but you can do a try and error to get 80% when you wake up or even charges dueing the day.
Here with FP5 I can’t see such option, just deactivation energy saving mode if more than 90% loaded
I have a workaround with Macrodroid which sends a http command to an intelligent plug when charged >=85%. Works but it’s always a little fiddly and you have to use the plug all the time or deactivate the macro. Would be a lot more comfortable to set the limit in the settings and the system takes care of it.
You said it… Without root. Never seen that before. WITH root it’s extremely easy. Just install AccA, set your parameters and you’re done. My phone charges till 80 percent, than de-charges to 70 or 76 and then back to 80. Can keep it on the charger that way. Brilliant.
Health battery charging
Type battery in the the f-droid search bar, there’s quite a lot !
Ive seen it. It’s available on Samsung Devices to limit the charge to 85% (without being able to edit the value). Also the newest iPhones offer this option.
I have this feature on FP4 since v. 2.2 with Android 13.
It is not device related, as far as I can see, maybe Android version related:
edit: …or not only device related…
Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro /w Android 13, v2.3 here.
I cannot find this option.
When you open the battery section in the settings there’s a short laps on time during which you can see the option. I’m under android 12. Seems to be an option shown depending on the device, but i remember a bug on my android 11 which showed me the android 12 icon settings…
You’re right. But how does it help? It’s gone so fast that I can’t hit it.
Open a thousands apps, make your phone lag, and click it at 1fps.
Kidding, if it is not shown, there is a reason. I guess it has not been tested on this device yet, and they try avoiding people to burn their battery… Maybe will it be introduced in the future…
Meanwhile you can either root your phone or install an app. Or buy a phone from the murena store as they are the first to be tested and introduced to new functionalities by /e/
My oneplus 5 will be seven years old this year! I’ve only ever charged the battery to 85%, previously with ACCA, but for some time now with the function integrated in LineageOS.
The only thing I miss is resetting the battery statistics.
Would love such a feature on my FP5 as well! It’s in the stock rom, but I can’t find it in e/OS
