Hi @Manoj,

Thanks for sharing a so huge amount of information daily ! As you’ve seen already, I saw that the Shift 6mq is going to be supported with eOS. Can you explain me or link me further informations on how to install it (easy installer ?), what I need for it (download on the PC anything special) or if I need to do anything special from the phone itself ? Do I will receive as on my FP3+ stable build OTA update or not ?

Thanks for your great work !

Regarding Samsung Galaxy s4 ( jfltexx ), what about exclusion of the google edition model, that is responsible for the system size limitation ?

This list of builds as mentioned here will be released with v1.0… by end of May 2022
The download guide will also be available to manually download and install it the first time. Subsequently the builds will be updated OTA.

Sorry I am new to /e/ but can you help clarify longer term what will happen to other devices currently supported that are not in this list for the 1.0 release? In my case I have a Pixel 3a XL (bonito), will support for it be “dropped”, will it become “community supported”, or will it still be officially supported but be added to the 1.0 release “sometime in the future”?

Thanks for any help in understanding the device support strategy going forward.

Hi @rikshaw, welcome to the /e/ forum. We see the clue for your device from a look up here Smartphone Selector. Your build is R beta, so your device is on more active development right now – a good thing.

v1.0 is likely to come to these devices in a second or third wave – my guess !

In general a project in active development might use a “decimal” of version numbers, signifying development in progress – v1 is often seen as a “big point” of achievement !

It’s a bit confusing admittedly but my understanding is that all currently supported devices except Oreo and nougat will be moving to version 1.0 first. See the weekly development update thread.

This list is for additional new devices or upgrades (from q, I guess)

Hi,
Considering what you’ve explained, I don’t understand what’s going to happen for me having a GS290 bought with e preinstalled on your site.
Will V1 update be available?
If yes, it will be a R or Q update?
If no, will gs290 continue to be maintained?

Could you clarify this point please?

Best regards

v1.0 will be available for all devices except those on Oreo or Nougat OS.
GS290 will continue being supported on v1.0 on Q
No devices are being dropped as of now.
For now, only these existing devices are being upgraded to R.
We will work on more devices and check which ones can be upgraded to R.
If that is possible, users will be informed as part of the weekly updates.

Thanks for your answer, it’s perfectly clear.
Glad that support continues for the GS290.

I’m sorry I’m new and I don’t understand the difference between R and Q

R is Android 11 and Q is Android 10

Thank you. New still learning so it’s in beta testing to R?

I have Motorola g7 plus xt 1965 y lake upgraded v.1.0 but phone says I’m on android 10 not 11 R is supposed to be 11 correct?

@Manoj sony Xz2c got the v1 ! Should you put it in the list?

I just checked and there’s both a Q and R version for your phone. So you are on Q, but R is available should you want it. I think the upgrade to R might wipe your phone so backup your data if you do try and upgrade

… but an OTA update in only supposed to update /e/ version. Not to upgrade Android version.

If you were on Android 10, expect to stay on Android 10 after an OTA update.
