Hi,
Is there any way to convert a google maps link to an e-friendly maps app?

there are a few options

• Organic Maps can handle some of the Google Map Urls, see https://github.com/organicmaps/organicmaps/issues/475 (see DONE vs TODO)
• https://f-droid.org/de/packages/app.fedilab.nitterizemelite/ has a Google Maps to Openstreetmaps redirect and can convert to “geo:”-urls
• GMaps WV (wv for webview) could be a last resort to handle the gmaps link - https://f-droid.org/de/packages/us.spotco.maps/
• Edit: Magic Earth handles some of the “https://maps.google.com” links. But as seen in the organicmaps issue or at its test-page https://omaps.app/test.html there are also places links and other deeplinks from Apps that it doesn’t

“geo:”-Urls as in https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc5870 can be handled by most FOSS mappers and the default Maps app in /e/

to bring https://omaps.app/test.html into this thread and make it clear

• Magic Earth will handle the Urls successfully (1), (2) and (4), but FAIL at (3), (5), (6), (7)
• UntrackMe can resolve the Shortlinks (5) and (6) to their destination, so finally
• OrganicMaps can open then all of the GoogleMap links named here. MagicEarth cannot handle /places/ Urls, no matter if resolved from a shortlink or tagged with geo-coordinates

I installed organic maps, and untrackme.
But it’s unclear to me how to get them to work together…
I appreciate any info

Organic Maps can open more Google Maps links than MagicEarth at time of writing.

The only links it needs help with are “goo.gl” and “maps.app.goo.gl” links - this is where untrackme comes in that follows the redirect and than offers Organic Maps when resolved.
