When I haven’t used my phone for a (short) while, my data connection is lost, even as Internet setting still says LTE. I have to reset connections to regain data connection. Any ideas?
As I have not used data connection for a long time while abroad I can’t say when this started, after which update for example.
My setup:
Dual sim, both sims active, second sim for data connection.
Phone: Teracube 2e zirconia
/e/ OS version: 3.6-a15-20260312593772-official-zirconia (Android 15)
Still no solution, alas. The sim card I use for data does not work in either sim slot: always losing the LTE connection after a few seconds. The same sim card works fine for data in my old iPhone SE 2016.
As it used to work in the Teracube before the latest updates of /e/OS, I am still suspicious of those updates. Admittedly I have not used data on the Teracube for a long time while abroad, so I cannot pinpoint the moment the problem may have started. It popped up after the updates and after my return to Europe, when I switched on data again. As the other simcard works fine for data in both slots, it does not seem a hardware problem.
Perhaps useful to know that the AOSP method of assigning Access Point Names changed around the start of 2026. Your 2026 updates will provision the new system.
Anecdotally there seem some “difficulties” with “some carriers”.
Unfortunately there are few 2026 threads with hashtag apn which point to a “solution for all”. As a first step one might Reset the mobile network settings within Settings > System > Reset options.
If no improvement tell the carrier that you don’t have full connection and perhaps ask for an APN reset carried out OTA by them.
@aibd Thank you very much for your reply. I reset the mobile network, but to no avail. APN settings seem correct, but I’ll try to get in touch with the provider. (Although the sim card works perfectly for the mobile network in my old iPhone SE from 2016.) Thanks again.
On the home screen LTE letters next to the phone connection triangle simply disappear when losing connection, but in settings > internet settings it still says that mobile data is LTE.
It seems that I am the only one here with this problem, but I still suspect an update of /e/OS, as it used to work fine before. And also because the data sim card works fine in other phone and my other sim card works perfectly in the slot where the the data sim normally resides. The problem with the data sim card losing data connection happens in both slots anyway.
The problem is with a sim card from Vodafone Greece. When in Greece again I will try to get a replacement sim card, as it is a few years old. Till then I will leave things as they are using two phones.
I was reading here that the problem also seems to happen with stock Android on Fairphones (it may not be phone specific though): Mobile data connection breaks after few minutes using dual SIM - Fairphone 4 - Fairphone Community Forum
