Magic Earth / Maps modifies itinerary

Sometimes Magic Earth modifies the itinerary during navigation.

For example, yesterday I had the option of choosing between 2 options, I chose option 2, because I wanted to drive through a specific road.

Then, at some point, navigation temporarily stopped and went to a zoomed out global view. There might have been something written on the screen, but if so, it was too small to read, but also, I was driving through traffic and so on. The only option I saw was a “continue” (I think) button where the usual “begin” button is.

So of course I pressed that button because I needed to get the navigation map back ASAP. The navigation switched to the other route (I realised that a when it was too late).

I already had this thing happen, luckily I was on the highway and just ignored the message and kept on the same route. I also know for sure that there was no road works or any such reason to absolutely avoid the chosen route. I think it was about “saving 2 minutes” or something (again, I couldn’t read the small text), which I didn’t want to save, as per the initial route choice.

I can’t find any documentation about this, how to disable it, or what it really is (I can’t read that stuff while driving and can’t reproduce it while not), or even how to describe to add to some support/request/wishlist something about fixing the interface (like keeping the current navigation available at all times).

Hi Manu
Id try to choose off in Navigation->car->avoid traffic.
Or if you want to be sure, disable network access for ME … temporally or you wont get map updates and gps fix might take rather long.

So this is an “avoid traffic” thing ? It can be useful. If it’s that, perhaps the ergonomics could be fixed because it’s not very clear, but also, while thinking about it, the current navigation isn’t available. In that case the only choice is to either just drive and perhaps go the wrong way while the nav is gone, or accept in order to get back on route.
