Mail app is not working well with Gmail

I recently installed e/OS on my Fairphone 5.
During setup, I added my two Gmail addresses to the required (and non-disabled :unamused:) Mail app. Since email configuration was automatic, there were no particular issues.
For a while, I had no issues sending or receiving emails. At least, that’s what I thought.

In fact, I realized I was no longer receiving emails.

By going to Settings/Account and launching manual sync in microG and in each Google account, I noticed that the emails wouldn’t sync. I also had a password error message that kept coming up.

It’s quite difficult for me to describe because I’m not very comfortable with it and a bit lost. I know how to use a phone, but I’m not particularly comfortable delving into the technical depths of email configuration…

I found another thread that apparently addressed the same issue, but with no answer: Gmail connected o "Mail" app not syncing unless I log in to webmail

So, I had to download the GMAIL app, which doesn’t cause any issues, whether receiving or sending. I’d love to continue using the app that comes with e/OS. But as it stands, it’s unreliable.

Is anyone else having the same issue and can share a solution?

Did you allow in your Gmail account that third party applications may use IMAP/POP3?

I didn’t even know there was such an option to enable on my Gmail account
I’ll check it out as soon as possible!
That said, it would be surprising because it did work a little, so why would it suddenly stop?

I don’t know. I have helped my aunt in the past to put her Gmail on a Thunderbird installation on Windows, so I came in contact with that
